Issued by Government of India (not RBI)
You can see “Government of India” written on it.
₹1 notes are printed by the Ministry of Finance, not the Reserve Bank of India.
That’s why it says “Secretary, Ministry of Finance” instead of RBI Governor.
Smallest denomination paper note
₹1 is the only Indian currency note issued directly by the Government.
All other notes (₹2 and above) are issued by RBI.
Rare in daily use now
Today, ₹1 notes are hardly seen because coins replaced them.
